Backstory:
Brant was born a Mandalorian. His father and clan leader was a mysterious cyborg, far older than a normal human and more machine than man, and so Brant was conceived through heavy use of technology. Hence Brant looks nothing like his father in most respects, only keeping the Mando’s unusual blue eyes and 6 foot frame.

The nature of the fertility treatments used also gave Brant a twin brother, however Brant was born Force-sensitive while his brother, Kellaro, was not.

When Brant was three years of age, his Force-sensitivity was noted by the Sith, and the family was visited by a Sith Lord insistent on taking the child for official training on Korriban. Brant’s father violently refused and chased the Sith off, and Brant was protected from the Empire’s attentions for at least four more years.

Then, when Brant was seven years of age, tragedy struck. He witnessed his father’s ship go down in a firefight with Zakuulians in Wild Space. Though he had a strong feeling that his father managed to escape, the Mandalorian never returned, filling Brant with resentment and anger over being abandoned. In the meantime, his mother brought the twins to Tatooine to try and scrape by a living. Unfortunately, with the threat from his father neutralized, the Sith returned and demanded Brant be turned over to the Empire. Fearing for their lives and hoping Brant might find a better life than on Tatooine, Brant’s mother gave him up.

Brant was thus raised among Imperials, adopting his foster family’s name of “Auretal”, indoctrinated at a young age and often not treated terribly well due to his strong rebellious streak. Upon reaching adulthood, he was given over to the Sith Academy to begin his training.

NOTE: In my headcanon, Brant’s mother is actually Mako, the bounty hunter companion, while the conflict that took Brant’s father would have been the same one that separates the main character from their companions in the Chapters storyline. Obviously this runs into a lot continuity issues when put into the larger RP world, so his mother remains anonymous and the big conflict was just some firefight.

If you really want to read more headcanon, you can find some of Brant’s stories here. Note none of these would be considered canon for Imperial Equinox, but it might give some insight into what goes on in Brant’s Sithy head at least.
